KEISER UNIVERSITY - MELBOURNE CAMPUS

The Melbourne Campus is located at 900 S. Babcock Street, Melbourne, Florida, has the following security policies in place:

The campus takes various precautionary measures to protect the students, faculty, staff and campus visitors. Nevertheless, unavoidable emergencies may occur at extreme situations. Therefore, the campus has a Campus Response Team (CRT) that implements and oversees the campus response to a crisis situation. The CRT receives training in dealing with crisis situations and will primarily direct the immediate response to a crisis situation until the arrival of law enforcement and emergency response personnel.

Safety and security guidelines for students, staff and faculty are posted on the university website.

The campus has a panic button system that is routed to the police.

CRT members carry hand held radios and have various safety and security capabilities at their disposal.

Any scheduled evening or weekend meetings require a member of the staff or faculty to be present and responsible for the maintenance of all security procedures.

Crime Prevention
The following crime prevention measures are recommended by the university

  •  Stay alert and know your surroundings.
  • Lock your car and do not leave valuables in your car.
  • Park in well lighted areas.
  • At night avoid dark and isolated areas.  If possible do not walk to your car alone.
  • Do not leave your personal property unattended.  Personal Property brought into the facility for personal or business use is not covered by Keiser University’s Insurance policy.

The building has magnetic doors that are locked and unlocked by the automatic timer set on the building computer system. The managers have keys to enter the building during times the auto lock is activated.

The doors are locked from 10:00PM to 7:30AM Monday thru Thursday and locked at 5:00 PM on Friday. Saturday hours are 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.   The Campus President and key personnel have keys to enter the building.

Personal Property brought into the office for personal or business use is not covered under Keiser University’s Insurance Policy. Therefore, be aware that personal property is brought into the office at your own risk. Cars parked in the parking lot should be locked as a matter of routine.
