Already serving the field of nursing, Melody Goble-Walsh, a Keiser University Statewide Commencement Ceremony valedictorian looks forward to walking the stage at Keiser University’s Statewide Graduation Ceremony to be held Saturday, January 25th at the RP Funding Center located in Lakeland, Florida.
Inspired to pursue a career in healthcare thanks to the medical attention she received as a child, Goble-Walsh, who will celebrate earning her Keiser University Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, said she is thankful for an educational experience that prepares her to pay her experiences forward.
“My goal after graduation is to provide equitable healthcare in a family practice setting and to participate in missionary trips focused on medical education and healthcare outreach in other countries,” she said while adding that the medical attention she received while growing up has instilled a strong belief that “equitable access to healthcare is a fundamental human right, regardless of socioeconomic status or other uncontrollable factors.’
Now working toward her Keiser University Master of Science degree in Nursing while also employed as a registered nurse at a Lakeland area hospital, Goble-Walsh encouraged those considering Keiser University’s programs to ‘take that leap of faith,’ and know that academic growth awaits. “The college’s diverse environment is well-suited for students from all backgrounds,” said Goble-Walsh who graduated high school after taking the General Educational Development (GED) test and went on to maintain a perfect 4.0 grade point average at Keiser University. “I am immensely grateful for the opportunities afforded to me.”
Goble-Walsh joins fellow Keiser University 2025 Statewide Commencement Ceremony Valedictorians Katherine Bristine – Lakeland Campus; Masiel Gonzalez Cuba – West Palm Beach Campus; Cortney Harrison and Nelly Kibirech – eCampus; and Allison Pounds – Sarasota Campus.
The annual Statewide Commencement Ceremony is one of several graduations Keiser University will host in 2025. Independent commencement ceremonies will also be held at Keiser University’s 19 statewide campuses beginning in the spring.
Many of those among the Keiser University class of 2024 are filling critical gaps in Florida’s allied health and nursing workforce. Keiser University has graduated nearly 6,000 nurses since 2019 and is one of the top producers of nurses in Florida. The College of Nursing at Keiser University utilizes a “students first” philosophy to increase access to nursing education for a diverse student body at the undergraduate and graduate levels and prepares students to provide holistic nursing care to improve individual, community, and global health outcomes.
Keiser University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program enables students to provide evidence-based collaborative care to diverse patient populations in varied settings. The Programmatic Student Learning Outcomes are a culmination of measurable competencies, consistent with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (2008) Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice (2008), which enables graduates to practice within a complex healthcare system.
