The Crime Scene Technology class from the Jacksonville campus visited St John’s County Fire and Rescue Department, Station 16 in St Augustine. As part of a field trip to highlight hazardous material response, the students were given a demonstration of hazardous material safety equipment, as well as the various instrumentation to assist with detection of chemicals and respiratory irritants. The students were also given a rare glimpse into the living quarters of the fire fighters assigned to Station 16, allowing them to appreciate the shift requirements of the profession.
