Instructor and Program Director Marcia Hamilton’s current Occupational Therapy Assistant students gained valuable “hands-on” experience as they prepared hand/wrist-splints for their classmates. After taking measurements of the assigned hand, the splint material was heated in order to soften it. The malleable and semi-cooled material was then placed on the individual student’s hand/wrist to form a perfectly fitted splint. Rough edges were then smoothed and rounded out to complete the task.
